First and foremost, we want to reassure you that the process will be smooth and has been designed to minimise any impact to you. Whilst you are advised to consult your existing relationship at Britannia Global Markets with any queries, you are most welcome to contact us at any time if you have any questions about Shard Capital and the services we offer.

How do I move my portfolio to Shard Capital? 

You should have received an email from Britannia Global Markets which details the process, and contains the “Form of Consent and Transfer Notice” for you to sign and return to your Relationship Manager.  Shard Capital will then send you a link for you to agree Terms of Business and consent. Once your account has been opened you will be notified including to the timings of transfer of your portfolio. If you have any questions, please consult your existing Relationship Manager.

Why is my wealth management account with Britannia Global Markets being closed down/moved to Shard Capital? 

Britannia Global Markets has taken the decision to close its wealth management business and identified Shard Capital as a suitable solution to introduce you to. Shard Capital is a leading Investment and Wealth Manager since 2010, with expertise in looking after international clients and the intricacies this attracts such as Investor Visa applicants, US taxpayers, with multilingual staff who amongst many speak Chinese Mandarin and Cantonese, Russian, Farsi to name but a few.

Are there any benefits or advantages that moving to Shard Capital offers me that my current arrangement with Britannia Global Markets does not? 

As described above, Shard Capital is dedicated to Wealth & Investment management, and through its diverse multi-lingual and cultural staff has several unique solutions for international clients.  

Will there be any changes to the fees and charges I am currently paying? 

No, Shard Capital is committed to offer a first-class service at a fair price. 

Will there be any changes to the designated point of contact or relationship manager handling my account? 

Please contact your current Relationship Manager for further information.

Will my portfolio holdings be impacted in any way when they are moved across? 

No, upon your consent the transfer process will not involve any sales and repurchases, the transfer process will be from Britannia Global Markets custody to Shard Capital custody.  For those using external banks there is no transfer of assets. If you have assets which cannot be transferred, you will be notified by your Relationship Manager

How much hassle will it be to transfer my portfolio to Shard Capital? 

Shard Capital will coordinate with Britannia Global Markets to transfer your assets. All you have to do is to instruct them by signing the letter in the Britannia email you have received, and to accept our Terms of Business via the link.

Will there be a cost to transfer the portfolio? 

No, all transfer costs are absorbed by Shard Capital and Britannia Global Markets. 

What is the timeline for the transfer of my account(s), and are there any actions required from me during this process? 

You will need to provide your consent and instruction to proceed to Britannia Global Markets by 5th February. Your assets/securities will then be transferred to Shard Capital on the week commencing 26th February 2024. Your Relationship Manager will be fully up to speed with these timings.

What if I don’t want to move my portfolio to Shard Capital? 

It is entirely your choice if you decide to move your portfolio to Shard Capital or elsewhere. We are confident that you will find the service offering at Shard Capital second to none and welcome any questions or concerns you may have. 

Will you require more AML and KYC documentation and new forms to complete? 

We aim to make this process as simple and pain free for you. To give you the client comfort, Shard Capital is committed to complying with all necessary regulations. By consenting to the transfer of data, your existing files will move to Shard Capital. They will be reassessed to meet current rules, at times it may be necessary to provide more explanation or documentation.

How will the change affect the accessibility and management of my portfolio, including online tools and platforms? 

Your Relationship Manager will provide you with the login details of your account which can be accessed 24/7. 

Are there any tax implications or considerations I should be aware of during the transfer of my portfolio? 

No, historical statements are available from Britannia Global Markets and Shard Capital for you to complete necessary tax returns. Shard Capital is a UK custodian and has offshore custody capabilities through Shard Capital Jersey and through relationships with external banks in Switzerland and other jurisdictions.  We welcome further discussion if this may be of interest to you. 

How safe are my assets during and after the transition to Shard Capital? 

Both Britannia Global Markets and Shard Capital are Financial Conduct Authority regulated entities and subject to the UK’s very strict Client Asset rules which are set by them, and therefore the safety of your assets during transfer are not impacted.

What happens to any open orders, pending transactions, or outstanding requests during the transfer period? 

Your Relationship Manager will be in contact to discuss any open or pending transactions. 

Are there any new policies or terms of service that I need to be aware of when I move over to Shard Capital? 

Please take the time to review Shard Capital’s policies and terms of service as they may differ very slightly from your existing terms with Britannia Global Markets. Because our industry standards are driven by the FCA’s rules and regulations, we do not believe there to be any material difference to your current service level – but in case you have any questions please do ask your Relationship Manager in the first instance.

How can I stay informed about the migration process? 

Your Relationship Manager will be able to update you on the process and timelines. 

What happens if I encounter any issues or have concerns during or after the transfer?

In case you have any questions or concerns please contact your Relationship Manager.  

Will my investment strategy be adjusted as a result of the transfer, and if so, how? 

No, upon your consent your mandate will be transferred to Shard Capital.

Will all my information relating to linked accounts, such as bank accounts associated with my wealth management portfolio and any regular deposit instructions, move across as part of the migration to Shard Capital? 

Yes, upon consent this information will move to Shard Capital.  If you have any concerns, please discuss with your Relationship Manager. 

INVESTOR VISA CLIENTS:
Do you have expertise in managing Investor Visa portfolios? 

Shard Capital has a dedicated UK Tier 1 Investor Visa team which has over 12 years of expertise, having helped hundreds of applicants successfully achieve their Indefinite Leave to Remain; working together with your chosen immigration lawyer and tax advisor.

Will moving my portfolio put my Investor Visa at risk?

No, under the immigration rules you are permitted to move investment management firms. 

Will you provide the necessary documentation for my extension or settlement application? 

Yes, we are able to write necessary letters for extension and settlement applications for the period you are with Shard Capital. Once your historical data has been verified, we are able to cover such period in your letter.  

I am in the middle of an extension or settlement application, should I move my portfolio?  

In order to minimise your visa risk, please discuss with your Relationship Manager and Immigration lawyer if you are awaiting a decision from the Home Office. 

EXTERNAL ASSET MANAGER CLIENTS:
What happens if I have an account with One Swiss Bank, VP Bank or BB&T?

If you have an account with one or more of these banks you will be required to sign an additional form which will be sent by your Relationship Manager. Your account numbers and other details at your bank will remain the same.
