Shard Capital appoints Ian Abrams to the Board
Shard Capital, a leading wealth and asset manager, is pleased to announce that it has appointed Ian Abrams to the Board as an Independent Non-Executive Director.
Ian has a breadth of experience in the financial services sector, with a career that has spanned nearly 50 years.
He also served for 20 years of as a member of the First and Upper Tiers of HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) hearing Financial Services and Pensions cases, and for 9 years as a member of The Financial Reporting Council Tribunal.

As an Independent Director on the Board, Ian will offer guidance and support to Shard Capital, as it continues to build out its proposition and introduce new offerings in increasing regulatory and governance-led environments.
Ian’s Senior Board Governance roles include Chairman of Orchard Funds plc, Chairman of Orchard Wealth Management, Senior Independent Director at LCH.Clearnet Group, founding Independent Director at the Pension Protection Fund and Non-Executive Director of Mizuho International plc.
Ian played a key role in the 1998 merger between the Industrial Bank of Japan, Dai-Ichi Kangyo Bank and Fuji Bank to form Mizuho International. Once completed, he became Managing Director of the new entity, overseeing all activities in Debt & Equity Markets, Derivatives and Treasury.
Earlier in his career, Ian was Chief Executive Officer of ABN AMRO Securities (UK) Ltd. Prior to this, he worked for Nomura International plc as Manging Director, where he led the European Debt Market Division.
Ian started his career as a trainee actuary, moving to Hoare Govett Stockbrokers in 1976, where he was appointed a Partner in 1982.
He is a qualified Actuary and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from The London School of Economics and Political Science.
